DJ mix from the Vic Theater shows November 20th and 21st 2009
This is just a sampling of the music selected by Frank Orrall &
Julio Davis, played at the Vic during these Bohemia inspired shows.
(You will recognize the melody of the first song as where pdp got the main melody for "Diamonds and
Buttermilk" ;)
The Mix is a sampling of various
music from the 40's, 50's, 60's & 70's from France, Germany and Brazil.
Put this on around the house while cooking, cleaning, working or relaxing and... ENJOY !

This was a big production show, the kind we can only do
in Chicago due to the shear mass of personnel involved (34 performers and crew!). When we go out on the road we have to find a way to make it work with
only 5 to 10 people, and I also love that style too because it brings out another side of pdp that we cannot capture with
the big band; more intimate. But, here is some photos to give you an idea of what we were reaching for... a sort of Bohemian throw back to a time long gone...
hinting at vaudeville... but in a modern context. We always strive for the 'big' show at the Vic Theater because they welcome it, and the theater can handle it, and
because Chicago supports it. We long
to do this kind of show on the road, and hopefully one day we will be able to.
